Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 pound asparagus
  • 1/2 pound mushrooms (white or baby bella)
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/8 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the asparagus by snapping off the woody ends and cutting them into 1-inch pieces.
  2. Slice the mushrooms into ½-inch thick slices.
  3. In a medium skillet over medium-high heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Add asparagus and cook for about 3 to 4 minutes until just tender. Remove from the skillet.
  4. Add another tablespoon of butter to the skillet, then add sliced mushrooms. Cook for another 3 to 4 minutes while stirring occasionally.
  5. Lower the heat to medium and return the asparagus to the skillet along with garlic, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Stir everything together for an additional 2 to 3 minutes until fragrant.
  6. Finish with the remaining tablespoon of butter and serve hot.
