  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 TBSP cinnamon
  • 2 TBSP unsalted butter for breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup fresh white bread crumb
  • 2 cups powdered sugar for glaze
  • 2 TBSP milk for glaze
  • 2 TBSP maple syrup for glaze

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together unsalted butter and 1 ½ cups granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Mix in egg, vanilla extract, and maple syrup until well combined.
  4. Add freshly ground nutmeg, salt, and baking powder; mix thoroughly.
  5. Gradually incorporate all-purpose flour until a dough forms.
  6. Shape dough into ping-pong-sized balls and roll in a cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  7. Flatten each ball slightly before placing them on the prepared baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are golden brown; cool slightly before transferring to a wire rack.
  9. Prepare brown butter breadcrumbs by toasting breadcrumbs in browned butter.
  10. Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and maple syrup for the glaze. Drizzle over cooled cookies and sprinkle with breadcrumbs.
